My car seemed to have some of the same nagging problems I see on these boards for the 98-02 Accords; the transmission slipping esp 1st to 2nd gear and check engine lights.
Engine itself will run forever! In addition, the rear wheel has the ability to move rearward to better absorb bump and road irregularities. Driving Impressions This car is incredibly easy to drive. Thanks again, you saved me money. The only non-routine maintenance item replaced was the right rear wheel bearing. But it doesn't take much to make it unique and quick. It is really a good bargain nowadays.
In cruise mode, the V6 engine just purrs along, barely audible. Faults: 5th gear selector fork must be replaced along with synchro ring and other parts, ask your Honda dealer about the technical bulletin. Smooth, quiet and serene would best describe the Honda at cruise. It produces more power, less vibration and better fuel efficiency than its predecessor. The gas mileage could be better. I'm asking Honda Motor Co. The nose is short, the hood and cowl are low, which complement the glassy cabin to provide excellent visibility from inside.
But this current redesign resurrects the Accord as one of the best mid-sized sedans offered on the market today. Reliability should not be an issue. Of course some had been treated better than others, but all of them were still solid. Fast rack-and-pinion steering permits an exacting left-right-left maneuver through turns, as big stabilizer bars fore and aft in the responsive double-wishbone suspension system prevent excess body sway and add integrity to the coupe's stability. Noise and vibration from the gear lever, happens when accelerating - not solved yet, but shouldn't be too expensive. The car drives nice and is a looker.
She's used to making payments, and not used to taking care of a car. General Comments: The car is very comfortable, low noise on highway speeds 120 kph. If you push it, it will drain the fuel tank in a blink of an eye, but then again, it is not what this car is about. Even the trunk has over a cubic foot more room. Great for gas milage, and very good handling. No Review Date: 8th September, 2007 My '99 Honda Accord I am the original owner is the worst car I've ever owned and this includes the '64 Corvair that burned oil, only ran on 3 of it's 4 cylinders and actually had the engine fall out at one point. But it has been a very good buy so far.
The quality of the materials and the assembly are first rate. This is about a second faster than the previous Accord V-6 1997. It provides lots of power for merging into traffic or entertaining its driver. Going down the freeway allows another personality of this Honda to reveal itself. Cabin spacious, great for those over 6 ft.
As soon as I get it back out of the shop, I am selling this vehicle and will never buy another Honda. But that changed when my sister purchased the car prior. It is a remarkably easy car to drive and every aspect of it is user friendly. I know that there isn't a perfect car, but the problems did not drive me crazy; they were fixed one time and they did not reoccur. This is a car that a family can buy, then quickly turn their attention to other concerns.
I also own a 2011 Honda fit with 206k miles also runs great only real repair was alternator. Many suspension parts replaced throughout the late 150-160ks such as tie rods. I decided to buy a weekend car. I was considering buying a 99 T plate Type R, quite low mileage too. The interior is a very rich looking cloth material and this car is a great value.
